Obituary to Maisie (Oakmoreton Silvan Shadow) Died November 2009

We sadly said goodbye to my most loyal friend Maisie at the grand age of 15yrs, a very sad day which we will never forget.

Maisie was daughter to our first weimaraner Lizzie and was from Lizzie's first litter, she was chosen because she was the naughtiest and most intelligent puppy, first to escape the whelping box and the leader of the pups. She was a great character, highly intelligent but always very serious, affection was always on her terms and she would often just get up and walk away if she didn't want a fuss....most insulting but that was Maisie and we loved her just the same. She inherited great athleticism from her Mum and loved to run at great speed, faster than any other dog around.

Maisie was my right hand girl from a very young puppy, she loved to "help" me with the horses, a job which she did happily come rain or shine, she would think nothing of sitting in the field in the pouring rain waiting for me to feed the horses, if I ever tried to persuade her to stay in and keep warm she was most insistant that she do her job. She loved to see the new foals each year and if no one was looking, she would chase them...just for fun, weims just love to chase anything that will run from them and foals are such good sport!!

As a young dog she was amazingly athletic and would much prefer to jump hedges and gates than the easy option. On one occasion she was looking out of our bathroom window at us below in the garden...it seemed the obvious answer to her to take the short route to us...and promptly jumped out of the first floor window!!, luckily no damage done. The once lean athlete who looked more like a whippet than a weim, Maisie started to chill out and slow a little once she had puppies. She had three beautiful litters for us and we have her gorgeous daughter Asia who is destined and eager to step into Maisie's shoes, Asia becomes more and more like her Mum with age.

I doubt that I will ever enjoy such devoted loyalty as I had with my darling Maisie, she was a very special lady in my life who will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
